Wichita Archer Clay
Christian Women's Job Corp
Interfaith Ministries and the Wichita Archer Clay Baptist Association partnered to establish the WAC CWJC site in Wichita Falls in 2001.  Interfaith Ministries allowed CWJC to use its 501c(3) tax exempt certification until such time that CWJC became an independent entity.  We received our own 501c(3) certificate in August, 2006.

Our MISSION is to help dependent and impoverished women to move toward self-sufficiency as they learn basic life and job skills in a safe Christian environment.

CWJC offers an opportunity for women 18 years and older to build self confidence, increase skills and make more informed decisions to facilitate positive change in their lives.  This is accomplished via a 14 week comprehensive training program twice a year--spring and fall, offering life skills sessions (self-esteem, goal setting, health and wellness, financial management, parenting), job search techniques/career exploration, basic education in Math and English, computer instruction, and Bible study.

At the beginning of each session, the Site Director prayerfully matches each student with a mentor.  These mentors have engaged in an in-depth training which prepares them to successfully support the student. The mentor and student enter into a covenant agreement identifying the goals the student has set for herself and outlining the shared responsibilities of both the student and the mentor in accomplishing these goals.  We believe that our one-on-one mentoring relationship is successful because it mirrors God's relationship with us in that having someone to walk through the journey with us empowers us and provides safety as we grow and develop.

In the short 7 years of CWJCs existence in Wichita Falls, Texas, we have had 95 participants enrolled; 59 comleted the program; 18 exited early because they were employed; 9 dropped out and returned next session; and 9 incompletion.  We count this a success as these women will have a better chance at breaking the cycle of poverty by their mothers teaching and modeling for them better ways of succeeding in our society.

CWJC has gone through some changes this year, starting with the new Director Gabriela Nesbitt.  She comes from Sheppard Air Force Base where she recently was the Religious Education Coordinator for the Chapel Base Community.  She is still an active member of the community and is looking forward in networking with the Air Force. She is so excited about CWJC and knows she is called by God for such a time as this to direct and lead CWJC to the next level. Here are some additional changes:

1. Program will be 14 weeks, starting in the Fall, September 2 to December 5, 2008.
2. Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
3. Additional classes added to the program--Individual Development Speaking Course, Business Community Day; Book scrapping, Internet and typing classes. More classes added as needed.
